The F7 Cab

  1. This locomotive is not a F7. It's either an E8 or E9. You can tell by the number plates in front. F7's (passenger/freight units) had raised number plate encasements. E-units'(E7,E8,E9), number plate encasements were flushed with the shape of the locomotive as seen here. F7's also had 4 axle trucks. E-units had 6 axle trucks. F-units had 1500hp. E7's had 1750hp and E8's and 9's had between 2000 and 2400hp.Lastly, im not sure if SP ever painted any of their F7's in the daylight paint scheme as seen on this engine. Only their E-units and Alco PA's both their PA1's and PA2's received the daylight colors.
